Specifications
ASTM A789/ ASME SA789 steel pipe covers seamless and welded ferritic/austenitic stainless steel tubing for general services. The standard is also applied to duplex stainless steel tube material. All tubes in this standard shall be furnished with heat-treated conditions according to specified temperature and quench conditions. When the final heat treatment is in a continuous furnace, or when heat-treated condition is obtained directly by quenching after hot forming, the number of tubes of the same size and from the same heat lot shall be determined from the prescribed sizes of the tubes.
UNS S32900 is a duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steel characterized by resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC), high resistance to pitting, crevice, and general corrosion, and very high mechanical strength. It can be used in marine applications for hydraulic cylinders or anywhere where good corrosion resistance is needed. It provides very good resistance to corrosion, particularly in a chloride-bearing environment. And it gives extra resistance to stress corrosion, pitting corrosion, and fatigue corrosion.
