ASTM A688 specification covers seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel feedwater heater tubes including those bent,if specified, into the form of U-tubes for application in tubularfeed-water heaters. The TP316N grade is a nitrogen-strengthened version of the standard TP316. The addition of nitrogen significantly increases its mechanical strength without compromising its core corrosion resistance.
