ASTM A312 TP309S Stainless Steel Tube Application
Key Distinction from TP309H:
TP309S vs. TP309H: While both offer excellent oxidation resistance, TP309S is chosen for its superior weldability and resistance to intergranular corrosion. TP309H is selected for its higher high-temperature strength and creep resistance but is more susceptible to sensitization in welded sections unless stabilized or solution annealed post-weld. TP309S is often used when post-weld heat treatment is not feasible.
